97 Suzuki VS 800 Intruder
1997 Suzuki Intruder, 32,000 miles. Good runner, lots of cosmetic issues, and a few mechanical gremlins when purchased. The rear end is missing the sissy bar, which is also the structural support for the fender, the rear turn signals are tiny crotch rocket universal plastic LED style just stuck into the sissy bar mounting holes and secured with bushings made of gobs of black electrical tape and plumbers putty. The rear fuel tank mounting bracket is broken off and the tank is not fastened securely. The frame, fenders, side panels and sterring head panels are in bad need of repainting, and the tank is dented. The headlight is an aftermarket chopper style peice with lots of flaking chrome and a bent ring. The front 'custom' turn signals are secured with hose clamps and point to the sky. The overall condition of the wiring is deplorable. The horn is missing and the harness is dangling under the steering head. The fork seals leak, the swingarm dust boot is torn and the handlebar master cylinders have cheap chrome covers over the resevoirs and the resevoir sight glasses are milked over and gummed with old brake fluid. The stock foot pegs have been replaced with a MAPAM forward control assembly that is corroded and bent. The footpeg mounting bracket only has three bolts holding it in place, 2 are loose and 3 are missing. The are not two fasteners alike anywhere on the bike and some mounting holes are filled with bolts of the wrong thread size and are wedged in place or vibrating loose. The front brake pads are past the wear limit.
The photos are not exactly in order of preogression from beginning to end of the customization process. Site Builder does not allow me to rearrange photos unless I delete them and upload them again , even then there is no guarantee the order will be correct, and to delete and upload would take all day so for now it is what it is until I can either find an affordable webhost or a more user freindly one.
